MAKEUP COCKTAIL ANYONE?

For many, vanities are a place of scattered makeup, bobby pins and rejected lip balms ('I swear I'll use up this new lip balm, I just got!' we tell ourselves time and time again.) Here's a convenient and fun way to tidy up (Why yes, I have used fun and tidy in the one sentence - it can be done!)

Look for a cocktail glass at your local thrift shop (I picked up this one at Vinnies for just $1) and pile in your daily essentials. This way you'll have everything you need right in front of you, stored in such a wonderfully carefree, elegant manner. Need a little more sparkle? Simply hang some of your favourite hook earrings along the edge. Not having to scrummage around your drawers, will make those manic mornings a little less chaotic and a little more chic!

Enjoy your cocktail!

PIZZA TOASTIES

From time to time we all crave pizza don't we? Well actually, for most of us... We pretty much always crave pizza! Here's a simple guilt-free recipe that you can recreate with most ingredients you'd already find in your fridge or pantry.

Preparation time - 5 mins
Cooking time - 10 mins

Serves 1

Ingredients
cherry tomatoes (halved)
oregano
parsley
red onion (diced)
pizza base sauce
soft tofu
butter beans
parmesan
light tasty cheese
2 slices wholemeal bread

Note: I haven't included measurements so you can choose the amount of various toppings to your liking! Also, for the non-herbivours out there, you can replace the tofu and beans with lean chicken breast slices.

1. Preheat your grill to 170°C and line a baking tray with some baking paper or aluminium foil.

2. Toast the bread & spread your pizza base sauce on top. (Pasta sauce will do if that's all you've got!)

3. Grate some tasty cheese over the toast, then add the remaining ingredients, leaving the tofu then parmesan until last so that they're right on top. (Trust me, this will add a yummy crunch once you're done!)

3. Grill for approximately 10 minutes or until your parmesan is golden.

This is the perfect dish for those cold rainy days, especially for those of you on my hemisphere seeing as it's the middle of Winter! As long as you go easy on the cheese, this is a much healthier alternative to the greasy mess we call takeout pizza.

Bon appétit!
